As a man it’s not easy to find wellness centered accounts and content to follow online. Sure, you may find a lot of self-professed gym rats but if you’re like me, it’s hard to identify with those men who can spend hours sculpting the “perfect” body. There are a plethora of women influencers and content creators which offer a ton of valuable information. However, at times, it can be isolating and leave you wondering where all the other men are that care about wellness!
If you’re someone who cares about holistic health (mental, emotional and physical wellness) here are some wellness accounts you may want to follow on Instagram.
Brian Chan (@Bchanwarrior)
Self-professed “yoga nerd” Brian Chan is a yoga master and wellness advocate hailing from Toronto, Canada. Not only will Brian leave you feeling inspired in a yoga and movement practice, but he also encourages his followers to focus on creating a life of meaning and intention, whether that’s in your daily movement practice or when setting goals for the coming year.
Thomas Whitfield (@thomaswhitfield84)
Thomas is a sexual health and wellness educator, and researcher based in NYC. On both his Instagram and his YouTube page he talks all things sexual health and wellness. He covers everything from working through breakups, exploring the world of multiple orgasms and why men must speak up about sexual assault. The content is spot on and way beyond the rudimentary info we all got in middle school sex ed.
Deepak Chopra (@deepakchopra)
Deepak might be an unexpected person on this list as we often think of Instagram being a young person’s game, but Deepak is incredibly popular on the gram and has over 1 million followers. Not only will you hear wise words form the spiritual guru himself, but you’ll also get a sneak peek into his life. You’ll see his regular yoga practice and shots from his travels and speaking engagements around the world.
Kevin Curry (@fitmencook)
With the tagline “built in the kitchen, sculpted in the gym” Kevin Curry of fitmencook definitely walks the walk. His Instagram is full of delicious recipes that almost look too good to eat. The recipes are also reasonable and focus on whole nutrition, which is a departure from a restrictive (or deprivation) mindset which is rampant in our diet-focused culture. It’s all about health (as it should be)! His book Fit Men Cook is slated for release on December 4, 2018.
Yung Pueblo (@yung_pueblo)
Poet and meditator Yung Pueblo is a refreshing part of my Instagram feed. His clean and focused imagery focuses on mental wellness, meditation and reflection. I always find it striking how in an image focused world Pueblo’s words just jump off the page. With just a few words he’s able to take you into a deeper place, one that you’ll be happy to be in. His words, and feed, are liberating and will help you expand your mind and spirit on the regular.
Chuck Mullin (@Chuckdrawsthings)
Mental health is not an easy topic to discuss, especially on social media. However, chuckdrawsthings offers up reflections on mental health with a ton of warm humor. His creations center around a pigeon trying to make its way through life. It’s part humor, part art appreciation but always inspirational (even if you don’t thoroughly enjoy pigeons).
Murray Hidary of Mind Travel (@murrayhidary)
Murray Hidary is a musician and creator of Mind Travel, a company which focuses on helping bring mindfulness meditation to the masses through curated, and fun experiences. His adventures take Murray all over the world, but he often holds events in both Los Angeles and New York City. His events include silent walking meditations through Central Park and concerts around the world.
